Mechanical Engineer (Contract Position)
Job Description
- Mechanical Engineer completing product design and development activities.
- Perform system packaging and optimization studies required to integrate mechanical systems into customer specific applications.
- Establish product designs based on flow down of customer requirements, engineering analysis and DFMEA.
- Complete component and system level design tradeoff studies based on FMEA, engineering and cost analysis.
- Create component solid models, 2D engineering prints with GD&T and design releases with assistance from dedicated CAD designers.
- Complete advanced supplier development and concurrent manufacturing activities for design responsible components.
Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Experienced application of component GD&T based on product functional requirements
- Experience with common manufacturing, machining, and component assembly processes
- Effective interpersonal skills with internal and external customers
Systems Safety Engineer
- 10 or more years of experience in product development
- Assessment of system and / or component design to requirements through DFMEA’s and validation testing
- Manage customer technical requirements through requirements tools
- Ability to make high level trade-offs to optimize system architecture
- Ability to perform design analysis of system to assess performance to requirements
- Generate subsystem and component allocations to meet system level requirements
- Ability to be technical representative to customer for systems safety requirements
- Coordinate systems safety technical activities among subsystem and component groups to meet system requirements
- Track program technical deliveries to key milestones
- Ability to read and understand microprocessor and other IC datasheets
- Develop safety requirements for software and hardware design engineers

- Must have prior experience with the application of ISO-26262 at a sub-system level

- Experience with Siemens NX, CATIA and parametric solid modeling is required
- Knowledge of product engineering drafting standards and print detailing methods.
- Use and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

- Two or more years of experience in embedded software verification or similar experience

- Interpret, understand and provide feedback on software requirements for a project.
- Software requirements reviews for testability.
- Analyze customer DVM’s and testing requirements
- Ability to use tools such as Vector CANoe and CANalyzer to emulate vehicle CAN interface
- Ability to write test scripts to automate software integration and system integration testing.
- Experience in black box testing, white box testing, regression testing, build acceptance testing etc.
- Ability to interface and communicate with third party testing suppliers

Prototype Lab Co-Op
- Perform various tasks as requested by Prototype Lab personnel
- Learn all processes and procedures required for the Prototype Lab

- Provide Technician support for the assembling and testing of components and assemblies
- Provide computer and instrument generated information to Engineering
- Assist in the assembly of the build kits and build package documentation
